FTP
Or File transfer Protocol. Some one you might be wondering, 'WTH are you talking about?' and others will know exactly what you are saying. Those people could possibly be using FTP for their site, and trust me, you'll want to too!

Well, first of all, you need a host that enables FTP. Which means you have an FTP address, such as ftp.sitenamehere.org, and a login username and password. So this is not like freewebs or anything.
If you have the FTP info, and no FTP, you can always download a trial of SmartFTP that lasts a few months. You can get this here.

Then go up to the very top and fill in the field that says Address with the FTP address of your host. This is not the normal address of your host, it is a link that looks like "ftp.sitenamehere.com". Then go to the field that says Login and fill in your username, and then go to the field that says Password and fill in your password. The part where is says Port should stay as 21 unless your host asks for another number.
I've logged in - what are all these boxes and folders for?
Ah, you've noticed! THe boxes are important on FTP because when you begin with FTP and you are all logged in, there should be many folders in one section to the left, and a bigger section on the right that contains the things inside the folders! Got it? For further understanding, take a look at the example below:

How do I upload files into FTP?
This is simple:
1) Click on the folder you want your file to go into. You are highlighting it.

2) Go into the place where you can find the things inside the folders.

3) Right Click, and go to Upload >> Direct >> Select. A box thing should pop up.

4) In the box thing, press the button Add Files. Select your file, then press okay. You've uploaded your first file *tear*

Hope you understand FTP a little better now!
